30-DAY CHALLENGE- ACTS OF KINDNESS
Jessica Cassity states that "When you are kind to another person, your brain's pleasure and reward center lights up, as if you were the recipient of the good deed not the giver, according to research from Emory University." This means that when you do an act of kindness you feel as good as the person who is receiving the act because you know you're raising someone's spirit. Doing acts of kindness makes you healthier and happier, that's why I chose to do acts of kindness as my 30-day challenge.
The article "Intentional Acts of Kindness" suggests that kindness reduces stress, anxiety and depression. The article says "Studies show that thinking about, observing or practicing a kind act stimulates the vagus nerve, which literally warms up the heart and may be closely connected to the brain's receptor networks for oxytocin." The article also states that "Kindness also triggers the reward system in our brain's emotion regulation center releasing dopamine."
My topic is interesting because doing acts of kindness makes you healthier and happier. When you are aware of the act of kindness you're doing , you feel very good, like Cassity said. But I also discovered that most of the acts of kindness you do are small ones that you do all the time without even thinking about it.
